Earl's Life at the Singles' Apartments called the Here

My by-line in the Friday in Indianapolis. As far as having my apartment filled with newspapers, I deemed it as a loving/missing practical joke. As I recall, I was returning from Cherry Hill, New Jersey late in the evening. When I pushed to open the door, it wouldn't go all the way in. Soon, I noticed wadded newspaper and pushed harder and got in. We had a party that night.

I noticed one of the pictures has Mary Mandabach standing outside the door. She became involved in the motion picture business as a casting scheduler. She died a few of years ago on the job in California.

The Here Apartments Up in Flames

I estimated about half of the complex burned to the ground including the clubhouse and office.

I was there when the fire occurred. My unit did not burn, but I was involved with rescue.

The apartments were never re-built but the remaining half is still being rented.

I knew the owners, Mr. Jennings and Mr. Parks. They were the Eagledale developers and did the Here's project to complete their bucket list from a goal they shared from an apartment building they lived in on the near Northside in Chicago that was mostly singles.
