The pig winner was the worst car aka the grunt. Typically these are called concours de elegants (best) not de elegrunts.

Car clubs would sometimes share (swap) judges. At one concours event the Benz club supplied judges for the Prosche Club and visa versa.

Judges were typically given a judge check list with suggested point values for each area for consideration. The contestants were unaware of this secret list before an event. The only thing they wanted to do was to look clean and shiny.

I would take my 83' 240 D to the dealer and pay for a very expensive cleaning and then I would take it home for an additional two days of cleaning.

The judges may have on their list to check the tire pressure of the spare or to look for dust under the fuel cap. It was their call. There was almost always a point consideration for year of manufacture and mileage.

All of this information was handed to the judges just at the event.

A person could be a judge at a Duesenberg event even though he never owned one.
